Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Mtwara. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting to support decision-making.Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department
Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes
Coordinate internal and external audits
Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with local tax regulations
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions
Review and implement financial policies and procedures
Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Provide leadership and guidance to junior accounting staff
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA or equivalent professional certification is a plus
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working in or with companies in the logistics, transport, or industrial sectors is an added advantage
Work Location:
Based in Mtwara, Tanzania. Candidates must be willing to relocate or already reside in the area.
